CLOC Juniors

CLOC Juniors reformed in 2005 and has been going strong ever since.  CLOC Juniors is a sub-section of Clevedon Light Opera Club and is run by a committee of members, parents and volunteers.  We also have three Junior representatives on the committee.  Below you will find information about what we do as a club, and how you can join.

What age do you have to be to join?
All members must be aged between 8-18 years.

Do I have to audition to join?
Yes.  All members have to go through an audition process, but don’t worry if you are nervous - we try to make everyone feel at ease.  Auditions are usually held once a year when we have spaces to fill.  During the audition workshop you will be asked to take part in a dance, sing a song, and read part of a script. You don’t need to prepare anything in advance, though we may send you information on song choices nearer the time.

When do you rehearse?
Our main rehearsal night is on a Thursday (7-9.30pm), but once a production is cast we also sometimes rehearse on a Sunday.  The production team will put together a rehearsal schedule as soon as possible so you know when you are required.  All rehearsals are held at Clevedon Community Centre.

When are the productions?
CLOC Juniors have two productions per year.  The first is in September, usually the second full week.   This production is our main show which is usually a musical. In the past we have produced shows from Bugsy Malone to Les Miserables. Main parts in these shows are cast by auditions, with the panel usually comprising of the current production team and CLOC President.
We then move on to a concert which usually takes place on the second weekend in December. This is a great opportunity for the Juniors to explore songs from a wide variety of musicals, and we try our best to give everyone their chance to shine.

How much is membership?
Membership is paid on a monthly basis.  You are required to set up a standing order upon gaining a place in the club, which ensures ease of payment for both yourselves and our treasurer.  The current fee is £10.00 per month.  This fee is reviewed annually at our AGM in June.

How do I sign up?
First you are required to complete a Membership Form and send this back to the club secretary.  You will then be added to the waiting list and called up for audition when spaces become available.  Please send an email to clocjuniors@gmail.com for a membership form.
